Fun Stuff To Do In Atlanta In Less Than 2 Days..?

My husband and I will be making a detour-trip in ATLANTA in March, and wanted to know some cool places to go – we have been to Stone Mountain Park and the Underground, but that is about it. When we lived there we never had the chance to really venture out and do things that you cannot do anywhere else. Any ideas or suggestions?
Is the Aquarium or Zoo worth all the admission price? Are they any special discounts for students or military personnel? Which is better?
Cool places to eat dinner or have a cocktail are appreciated too!!! THANKS!

Definitely visit the Coca-Cola Factory, although I don’t know the availability of tickets etc.
I went about 8 years ago and I can only imagine that technology has made it better.

Here is a partial list of things to see and do in Atlanta. http://www.atlanta.net/50funthings/
My personal favorites include some places not on this list. If you are interested in Miltiary History, the areas in and around Cobb County of Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield Park, the National Cemetery, the Confederate Cemetery and the ruins of New Manchester Mill at Sweetwater Creek are a unique diversion. You’ll learn the history of the “Roswell Women” …Between the battle of Kennesaw Mountain and the battles for Atlanta, the millworkers of Roswell and New Manchester Georgia were arrested, charged with treason and shipped north of the Ohio River. These millworkers consisted mainly of women who were the Civil War equivalents of World War II’s “Rosie the Riverters”. Many of the women found themselves trapped in the north with no means of transportation back to Georgia when the war ended. The fate of these women remains a mystery to this day since many were unable to read or write, and never returned to Georgia.
The Zoo is nice with a few exceptional exhibits especially of Gorillas, although the area around there can be problematic for theft etc. The Aquarium is really nice, as is the New World of Coca Cola.
My favorite place to eat, hands down is in Little Five Points at the Vortex Bar and Grill. It’s not for the weak of heart and has a real “attitude”but their hamburgers are wonderful. I coordinate an event there every year for young military guys and they always love it, but I think are a bit surprised that an “old” person would select the Vortex.
Another favorite is La Paz restaurant in Vinings.
    Hope that helps.

I personally thought the Aquarium was awsome. I have never been to the Zoo and so I can not answer you there. Six Flags is nice, but you simply can not see it all in one day. I have heard the Coke Museum is pretty good but I have never been there either. The MLK Memorial was pretty nice too.

Go see a show at the Fox Theater, Agatha’s murder mystery and dinner is awesome, World of Cokes is loads of fun, and honestly, i think the aquarium is a bit of a waste of time unless you’re big into that stuff. I mean, i love aquariums, but with the way people talk about this one, it’s quite a let down when you actually get there. Good luck! Have fun!
