What Is The Best Area In Atlanta To Live In Near Scad?
I am contemplating going to the Savannah College of Art & Design in Atlanta, but need to know what would be the best place to live around the area. It will be myself, my husband, and son. He’s a newborn so he won’t be in school for a while so that’s not an issue for now. Your answers are greatly appreciated.

Intown living can be pretty expensive. You don’t mention whether you’re looking to rent or buy. I would recommend you check out the options at Atlantic Station – both apartments and condos (and single family homes). Great location for SCAD – great shopping, dining, etc. I’ve listed a website below that might help.Good luck.

Atlantic station is very nice as the person above suggested. That is an bad area that the city is renovating, so there is still some crime in Atlantic Station and the surrounding area. Midtown is really great. It is very safe and the center of everything. It is pricey, but you do some research you can find some very affordable options in the Midtown area. Here is a couple links to check out for renting options:

The other answers are good, but I will add something. SCAD is close to the Arts Center MARTA station, so you could take the train to work. That opens up possibilities such as the Lindbergh area (now undergoing redevelopment, and lots of housing units are being added), Brookhaven, Chamblee, Inman Park, Candler Park, and so on.
You may want to get your husband’s work situation squared away before you commit to housing. If he had a job lined up, you could decide to live somewhere that’s reasonably close to his work, and close to a MARTA station. That way you could both have a decent commute.
Traffic in Atlanta is horrible so you need to strategize about this.
